Apres-ski bar with balanced mix of materials
Ceiling covering with black expanded metal
Winter sports fans rejoice about powder snow and powder-coated steel. When winter sports fans come across powder-coated steel in the apres-ski bar, then the day is perfect. The material mix of stone tiles, wood and expanded metal is simply unique. You don't actually need to have been on the piste beforehand. One also feels right at home in this ambience without having partaken in any sporting activities. The clever lighting design puts anything seen thus far in the shade.
This is typical apres-ski culture
In the South Tyrol community Sand in Taufers (Italian: Campo Tures), in the middle of the Ahrn Valley holiday region, small numbers don’t satisfy anyone: Surrounded by 80 peaks over 3,000 metres high, the Ahrn Valley offers winter sports fans a magnificent landscape. The ski resorts Kronplatz, Klausberg and Speikboden leave nothing to be desired. Winter sports fans who want to experience a fantastic après-ski culture after a day on the slopes find everything they long for here. At the Speikboden base station, the craft business Helmuth Innerbichler has created a particularly pleasant ambience in the après-ski bar Ahris. MEVACO expanded metal, rhomb 115x48x18, made from powder-coated steel, was used. “We painted the expanded metal black”, states Helmuth Innerbichler, “which together with the subtle lighting helps round off your day on the slopes in style.”
“MEVACO expanded metal can be designed in a variety of ways”, sums up Helmuth Innerbichler, “because it is very flexible.” As flexible as the craft business itself. Founded in 1979 as a painting business in the South Tyrol community Sand in Taufers (Italian: Campo Tures), insulation systems and dry lining were soon added to the services the company offers. “These became bestsellers as today large objects can also be constructed with these materials”, states Helmuth Innerbichler.
Desire for challenges
It doesn’t matter which trade requires high-quality work, for him it is all about the desire for new challenges. One of these challenges was the après-ski bar Ahris. When you mention Sand in Taufers, you automatically think of winter sports. The region boasts 80 peaks over 3,000 metres high and the ski resorts Kronplatz, Klausberg and Speikboden leave nothing to be desired. The après-ski bar Ahris, located at the base station, presents itself in its best light: stone tiles on the floor, wood on the walls, and MEVACO expanded metal, rhomb 115x48x18, made from powder-coated steel, on the ceiling, ensure a balanced mix of materials.
A really special ambience
However, that alone does not satisfy Helmuth Innerbichler‘s claim of ‘high-quality work’. “We painted the expanded metal black”, he explains. “First of all, we degreased the expanded metal and applied a special coating which triggers the corresponding chemical reaction. In order to obtain a uniform appearance we applied a light amber-coloured metal protector. Together with the clever lighting, the MEVACO expanded metal now gives the bar a really special ambience.” The 3D character of the expanded metal changes the colours between blue, violet and red shades, depending on where the guest is in the bar. It comes as no surprise then that some people are happy to prolong their après-ski session!
