MMEVACO has donated €5,000 to NABU e.V. (Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union) and is thus helping NABU to preserve the last areas of the Ethiopian rainforest.
The majority of us know Ethiopia as the country of droughts and famines. Very few people actually know that almost half of this African country was once covered with luscious rainforest. All that remains today is less than 3% of the overall forest areas. One of these is the cloud forest. Similar to other rainforests, the cloud forest captures thousands of tonnes of CO2 each year via its plant mass. This is prevented due to forest clearance and this plays a role in exacerbating the greenhouse effect. NABU e.V. has set itself the target of having the remaining forest recognised as a UNESCO reserve and to thus protect the flora and fauna.
We are delighted to support the project this year with a donation of €5,000. You can find detailed information on the project at www.nabu.de
