Perhaps you have already driven by it numerous times while going into the centre of Neumunster. It is not one of those dazzling projects, which are reported on so willingly. But your attention was still drawn to the building – and since then it has always been worth a glance when driving by. A brief moment to be savoured Đ always a welcome occurrence!

It is a well-maintained building in the Wilhelminian style. You can sense that the owner is proud of it and doesn’t just go to the DIY store when he needs a windscreen, which should shield the door porch of the driving school. On the contrary, an experienced architect is entrusted with the project.

Using few means, the architectv Thomas Ladehoff from Hardebek, www.tladehoff.de, created a porch with a modern appeal: with an exposed concrete base, red cedar slats and a wall made from stainless steel perforated sheeting. And this wall is so con-vincing that you may almost not believe the architect when he says he decided on perforated sheeting for practical reasons more than anything else. Perforated sheeting is an effective wind deflector, you can easily see through it from the inside out, but almost not at all from the outside in, it gives the driving school a modern, technical-cool appeal, does not darken the entrance area too much and is suit-able as a support and background for advertising lettering. And perforated sheeting is much more resistant to vandalism than glass. It is practically indestructible and graffiti “artists” usually from experience give it a wide berth. Tangible reasons for the building owner to be satisfied with the result. And when driving by, it is once again confirmed to you how beauti-ful practical things can be – all the more so when made from MEVACO perforated sheeting.
